Peter Pilz is co-founder and Managing Director/CEO of Mycoplasma Biosafety Services GmbH. He has a history of over 25 years in managing and developing profitable business in high-tech and real estate development and is shareholder and Managing Director of a number of companies operating in these areas. Excellent sales/business development, project management and organisational skills are completing his profile. He holds a DI (diploma engineer) degree in Informatics from the Vienna University of Technology and also holds a degree in Management and Business Administration from the Vienna University of Economics and Business.

 

                

DI Rainer Schrems Rainer Schrems

Managing Director ǀ CFO

Rainer Schrems is co-founder and Managing Director/CFO of Mycoplasma Biosafety Services GmbH. He is also shareholder and Managing Director of a number of other enterprises and brings to the company a wealth of experience in finance management, controlling, marketing and sales. Rainer Schrems holds a DI (diploma engineer) degree in Mechanical Engineering and Business Administration from the Technical University Graz.

 

 

                

Renate RosengartenProf. Renate Rosengarten, DVM, PhD

Consultant & Managing Partner | COO, CSO

Prof. Renate Rosengarten’s academic career is for 40 years marked by a continuous interest in the infection biology of mycoplasmas. Her passion for mycoplasmas took her to the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover, the University of Missouri-Columbia and the Hadassah Medical School of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. In 1996, Renate Rosengarten was appointed Professor and Chair of Bacteriology and Hygiene at the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna. She was Head of the Institute of Bacteriology, Mycology and Hygiene for more than 17 years and was founder and Managing Director of the well-known previous niche market leader Mycosafe Diagnostics GmbH.

Renate Rosengarten is author of over 100 publications on mycoplasmas in peer-reviewed scientific journals and books. The results of her research also found their way into several advanced textbooks and review articles on microbial pathogenesis.

Beyond her academic obligations as lecturer, reviewer and scientific advisory board member, Prof. Rosengarten is consultant in the area of Industrial Mycoplasmology for biopharmaceutical and biotechnological companies. In this function she is a frequent speaker at scientific meetings and has established a range of worldwide contacts.

Prof. Rosengarten was and is actively engaged to promote the field of Industrial Mycoplasmology by a number of functions and activities:

  • Member of the Mycoplasma Task Force of the Parenteral Drug Association (PDA)
  • Member of the International Research Program on Comparative Mycoplasmology (IRPCM)
  • Board member of the Austrian Society for Hygiene, Microbiology and Preventive Medicine (ÖGHMP) since 1996 (ÖGHMP President from 2008 to 2010)
  • Board member of the International Organization for Mycoplasmology (IOM) for 10 years (IOM President from 2004 to 2006)
  • Organiser of international meetings in the area of Mycoplasmology (e.g. the 14th International IOM Congress, 7-11 July 2002; the International Mycosafe Symposia Series on Mycoplasmas 2007, 2010)

Business Development Manager | Marketing & Public Relations

Martina Sauert drives the international business development of Mycoplasma Biosafety. With her PhD degree in Molecular Microbiology from the University of Vienna she provides clients and partners with profound background knowledge on Mycoplasma Biosafety’s services and products. Speaking six languages and having many years of experience in organizing scientific events, leading organizational teams and involving herself in science communication, she is the first contact person for incoming requests and the public relations voice of the company.

 

                

Carl-Ulruch Z'immermannCarl-Ulrich Zimmermann, PhD

Head Research & Development

Carl-Ulrich Zimmermann received his PhD for his research on transcription analysis of the human pathogen Mycoplasma pneumoniae during infection at the Center for Molecular Biology of the University of Heidelberg (ZMBH). As a post-doctoral scientist and University Assistant he dedicated almost another ten years to basic research in the area of Mycoplasma Molecular Pathogenesis at the Institute of Bacteriology, Mycology and Hygiene at the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna. Dr. Zimmerman joined the company in fall 2014 as Head of Research & Development and is the driving force in all innovation projects.

 

                

Sandra BuczolitsSandra Buczolits, PhD

Managing Director ǀ Trade Law

QM & QA Manager

As Managing Director under Trade Law, Sandra Buczolits provides the qualifying certificate for the company. In her function as Quality Manager and Quality Assurance Manager she looks back on more than ten years of experience as Head of the Mycoplasma Testing Laboratory and later as QA Manager of Mycosafe Diagnostics GmbH. Sandra Buczolits’ expertise comprises the areas International Regulatory Compliance, Mycoplasmology and General Microbiology. Sandra Buczolits is holding a PhD degree in Microbiology from the University of Vienna.        

        

MSmitDI Martin Smit

Head Mycoplasma Testing

Martin Smit is a chemist by training at the Saxion University of Applied Sciences (Enschede, Netherlands) and has a track reccord as technician of over 15 years in the pharmaceutical industry. Since eight years he is working in the field of regulatory mycoplasma testing and joined the team of Mycoplasma Biosafety in its beginning. He is filling the post as Head of the Mycoplasma Testing Laboratory since mid 2017.

 

 

 

Martin VronkaMartin Vronka, MVsc

Project & Operations Manager

Qualified Person

Martin Vronka is a veterinarian by training and also holds a qualifying certificate for the company. Since the beginning of his mycoplasma research training in the Institute of Bacteriology, Mycology and Hygiene at the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna, he has accumulated ten years of experience in the area of basic and applied Mycoplasmology. He has profound knowledge and experience in advanced mycoplasma testing and NAT assay validations.
